Yvonne "Vonnie" Renner Brecht passed away peacefully on March 31, 2018, in hospice care at her residence in Parker, CO.
She was born February 4, 1921, in Canton, Ohio to Dr. Warren F. and Ethelyne Yarger Renner. A graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University with a degree in education, she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Married 66 years to Henry J. "Hank" Brecht, she was an active volunteer in Akron, serving Akron General Medical Center, Seiberling Deaf Nursery, and Akron Children's Hospital. She served on the boards of the Girl Scouts, Akron Woman's City Club, and Coach House Theatre. Vonnie & Hank enjoyed traveling to 27 countries.
Preceded in death by her husband and their daughter, Karen Brecht, both in 2010, Vonnie will be missed by her daughter, Mary Lou Brecht Johnson (Duane) and her grandchildren, Dr. Katherine "Katie" Johnson and Dr. Andrew William Johnson (Taylor), all of Colorado. Vonnie will miss the anticipated birth of her first great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends on Friday May 25th from 10-11 AM at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. A private graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, Vonnie requested memorial contributions be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, P.O.
