Lee E. Kottka, 89 years young, died July 17, 2018, after a courageous battle with bladder, colon, and lung cancer.
Born in Canton, Ohio on January 5, 1929, Lee was raised in North Hill and lived there most of his life. He was a graduate of North High School, Class of 1947. After serving his country in the Korean War, Lee returned to the area and worked in the Graphics Department for Morris A. Knight. He then became employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier, first in Fairlawn, but mostly North Hill, Branch 148, retiring in 1988 with 30 years of service. In his retirement, he continued to work part-time, well up into his eighties, for H&M Metal Processing and Mormac Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leopold and Hazel Kottka; stepmother, Irene Kottka; sister, Corinne Gibson; nephew, Donald Gibson; and wife, La Vonne Kottka.
Lee was a die-hard Browns fan, and he leaves to cherish his memory and miss him always his DAWG POUND BUDDY and beloved stepdaughter, Holly A. Holland of Akron; nieces, Beverly Zacher and Karen Martin of Akron, and nephew, Gary Gibson of Sacramento, CA.
Special thanks to good neighbors, Roy and Louise Beal, Dr. Jeffrey Eckman and Pioneer Physicians Group, Dr. Douglas Green, Dr. Robert Marley, Dr. John Moawad, Dr. Robert Baranek, and Dr. Richard Sparrow, and their staffs, the staff at Continuing Healthcare Solutions, and the staff from Western Reserve Hospital, Palliative Care, and Western Reserve Hospice.
Per Lee's wishes, there will be no calling hours or service. Cremation has taken place.
