Judith Saxman Obituary
Judith Ann "Judy" Saxman, born on June 30, 1941 to the late Harold and Annabelle Caylor of Akron, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2018 at Hospice Care Center surrounded by loved ones. Judy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bruce A. Saxman; her sisters, Sally Scott, Kathy (Bob) Eckert; sister-in-law, Peggy (Russ) Vernon; her children; Gretchen (Chris) Snyder, Andrew (Melissa) Saxman, Heather (Eric) Shurin; grandchildren, Rachel (Dan) Neal, Jake Snyder, Kelly Snyder, Kathryn Saxman, Mitchell Saxman, Steven Nichols, Dillon Jock, Alana Jock; great-granddaughters, Madison and Samantha Neal; as well as many nieces, nephews and life-long friends.
Judy grew up in Bath Township and graduated from Revere High School in 1959 with her sweetheart, Bruce. They both graduated from Kent State University and were married in 1962. Judy and Bruce moved to their home in Medina in 1967 where they created many cherished memories.
Judy was an educator held in high regard by students and colleagues alike. She began teaching at the Medina County Career Center in 1974 and retired in 2002. She was a strong advocate for vocational education and endeavored to aid each student reach their full potential.
Judy had a strong interest in civic matters. She campaigned for many issues and levies in support of schools, parks, and libraries. She was a past member of the Highland Board of Education, League of Women Voters and other organizations where she believed she could help the community. She was also a member of Bethel Lutheran Church for more than 50 years.
In her retirement, Judy enjoyed visiting friends and family, traveling, Red Hat luncheons, BUNCO tournaments, Sunday evening dinner club, and book club. She was an avid reader with varied interests, but she truly relished a juicy murder mystery.
Judy befriended everyone she met. She inquired about peoples' lives with honest interest. Through her inquires, she made everyone feel as though their story was the most wonderful and fascinating she had ever heard.
Judy was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She held each member of the family very dear and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them. She spent countless hours celebrating accomplishments, listening to disappointments, solving world problems, critiquing literature, and offering sage advice. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her and loved her.
A celebration of Judy's life will be held June 30, 2018 so she can be remembered and honored in the grand manner she deserves. (Details to follow)
