William Auld Obituary

William (Bill) G. Auld, 88, died October 29, 2017.

He was born February 6, 1929 in Canton, OH to the late James and Elsie Jane (Gonder) Auld. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and Bronze Star recipient. He was a member of the Church in Silver Lake, Canton Akron Scottish Heritage Association, and the Free and Accepted Masons Canton Lodge #60. Bill retired from the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in 1985, then taught at Stark Technical College for 10 years.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine, with whom he celebrated more than 60 years of loving marriage. He also joins siblings, Evelyn (Robert) Leslie, James (Jean) Auld, and brother-in-law, Harold Girt. He is survived by his children, Bonnie (Douglas) Hanggi, Aaron (Theresa) Auld, Shannon (John) Snare, Heather Auld and Bill Auld; grandchildren, Alan, Shawn (Amanda), Megan, Devin, Kathryn and Gwendolyn; great-grandchildren, Calloway and Elliott; and his sister, Gwendolyn Girt.

Memorial services will be held 4 p.m. FRIDAY, November 10th at the Billow FALLS Chapel, 1907 23rd St., with Rev. Ralph S. Wearstler officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the memorial service at the funeral home. Private inurnment for Bill and Geraldine will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Hospital or Akron Children's Hospital. (Billow FALLS Chapel)
