Velma Barkley Obituary

Velma Pritts Barkley, born Dec. 26, 1934, passed away May 17, 2017 and is with her Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven.
Velma was oldest of 6 children born to Katherine & Alpha Pritts of Indian Head, PA. She is survived by her Husband, Thomas G. Barkley of Fairlawn, OH, Son Thomas W. Barkley of Columbus, OH, Daughter Susan (Kirk) Trost of Castle Rock, CO., and Grandchildren, Daniel Trost, Ryan Trost, Jenna Trost, & Chloe Barkley.
She is survived by Sister Eileen Hoffman of Ft. Myers, Fl. She was preceded into Glory by her Sisters Beverly Pritts, Maxine Burkholder, & Arlene Proctor and her Brother Donald Pritts.
Velma was a wonderful and caring person, who loved to laugh. She was kind and giving to her family and friends. She worked in various roles in the medical field, including as a phlebotomist, doctors office aide, a dental office assistant and as a nursing home aide. She worked at Halle's and Higbee's on the sales staff. She was active in church activities, and was a secretary for her church's AAL group. She participated in the making of the Stained Glass windows in the Church's new sanctuary in 1997 thru 1999.
The family would like to thank the staff at Arden Courts of Bath for the love and care given to Velma while she was a resident. These people are special angels who serve those with dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
Services will be held at 6 p.m. SUNDAY, May 21, 2017 at Fairlawn Lutheran Church, 3415 W. Market St., Fairlawn, OH 44333. Viewing will take place two hours prior to the service from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorials in her name may be made to Fairlawn Lutheran Church.
