Ruth Strayer, 90, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2018 in Akron Ohio.
Ruth was born in Akron, Ohio on May 21, 1928. She graduated from Buchtel High in 1946. Ruth was a trailblazer working for American Optical and later as an account representative at Blue Cross. She generously donated to many charitable organizations. Ruth was a longtime member of High Street Church and later the First Congregational Church of Akron.
Preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Phillips and her second husband of 24 years, Thomas Strayer; her daughter, Elizabeth Saalfield and granddaughter, Amy Saalfield; her sister and three brothers; she will be missed by her son, Donald O. Phillips (Elizabeth) of Fort Collins Colorado, David E. Phillips (Pamela) of Port St Lucie Florida; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren
Services will be held 1 p.m. WEDNESDAY, June 13, 2018 at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N Miller Rd. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Calling hours TUESDAY 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
