Noi Luangraj Obituary

Noi Luangraj

Noi was born June 2, 1937 in Vientiane, Laos to Tan and Khamphoui Luangraj. In 1979, Noi led his family across the Mekong River to a refugee camp in Thailand to escape persecution from the Communist-controlled government. In 1981, after securing sponsorship from Christ Church U.C.C. in Orrville, OH, Noi brought his family to the United States. Noi's family have been members of Christ Church ever since they moved to the United States. A skilled machinist, Noi worked for twenty-six years for The Will-Burt Company in Orrville, where he was truly loved by both management and his coworkers. He often visited his friends at The Will-Burt Company long after retiring in 2009. Prior to moving to the United States, he served as a principal and later as the Director of Adult Education in Laos. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time with number grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also loved to travel with his wife, Vongseng, where they visited six different countries in Europe and numerous states across the USA. In 2011, they returned home to visit Laos, which was the first time they had stepped foot in their homeland together since escaping in 1979. In March 2018, Noi and Vongseng celebrated sixty years of marriage together.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Chanh Sassady; and brothers, Khamseng Luangraj (Canada), Toune Luangraj (Laos), Pheng Luangraj (Laos), Tongdy Luangraj (Laos).
