Martha Ann Gould

Martha Ann Shively Gould "Ann", of Akron died October 22, 2017 at the age of 93.


Ann was born in 1924, the daughter of Charles F. Shively, MD and Hallie Eberle Shively of Cambridge, Ohio. She graduated from Cambridge High School, attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and graduated from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Columbus where she became a registered nurse. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority in college. She married Ned T. Gould, MD, of Canton, at the First Christian Church in Cambridge in 1947 and gave birth to two daughters and a son from 1949 to 1955. Ann's beloved Ned passed away September 4, 2001 after 54 wonderful years of marriage.



Ann is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia Ann and William C. Beynon, Pamela Jane and Franklin W. Kokomoor, MD; son and daughter-in-law, Charles Shively and Lisa S. Gould; grandchildren, Laurie VonGunten (Mark), John Beynon, Emily Grattan (Robert), and Sarah Kokomoor; and great grandchildren, Grace, Hallie, and Sadie VonGunten, Joe and Maggie Beynon, and Henry and Linnie Grattan.


Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her brother C. Robert Shively; her husband Ned's parents, Harry K. and Nell Gould; and her very special grandson, Zachary Kokomoor.



During her younger days in Akron, Ann dedicated countless hours to Fairlawn Community Church, especially in the kindergarten program, the youth group, and as a deaconess. She delivered Mobile meals for six years. She was a member of Braewick Circle Garden Club, Akron Woman's City Club, and Fairlawn Country Club. Ann very much enjoyed the beauty in nature, sending carefully selected greeting cards to family and friends for every occasion, and talking for hours on the telephone. First and foremost, however, she will always be remembered as a devoted and loving mother.


A Memorial service will be held 11:00am Saturday October 28 at The Bath Church, 3980 W. Bath Rd, Akron, OH 44333. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ann's name to Mobile Meals, 1357 Home Ave, STE 1, Akron, OH 44310. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
