Joyce A. Mears
Joyce A. Mears, 92, was promoted to Glory on August 7, 2017.
Born in Cottenham, Cambridge, England, she was a lifelong member of the Salvation Army where she spent many years as a bookkeeper for the Akron Citadel Corps.
Preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Joffre "Sgt. Jeff" Mears and daughter, Lorna Clapsaddle; she is survived by granddaughter, Jenifer (Michael) Lemon; grandson, Justin Clapsaddle; son-in-law, Larry Clapsaddle; and 5 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. WEDNESDAY, August 16th at the Salvation Army, 190 S. Maple St., Akron, OH 44302, with Major Thomas Grace officiating. Interment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. TUESDAY, August 15th at the Billow FALLS Chapel, 1907 23rd St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lorna Clapsaddle Scholarship in c/o the Salvation Army.
