Jerrold Leroy Holm

Jerrold (Jerry) Leroy Holm, 86, passed away Dec. 11, 2017 at Arbors at Fairlawn from a brief illness with cancer.



He was born on July 24, 1931 in Akron, the son of the late Harry and Nora Holm. He graduated from Bath High School and attended the University of Akron before enlisting in the U.S. Navy and proudly serving during the Korean War. Shortly after discharge from the Navy, he was hired by B.F. Goodrich, where he worked until retirement.



He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who always enjoyed spending time with family. He had a warm and generous heart, always concerned for others and the first to offer a helping hand to those in need. He enjoyed fishing, trivia, crossword puzzles, and watching Jeopardy and sports on TV. He loved joking around with everyone and was known for his dry and witty sense of humor.



He is survived by wife Carol, his loving wife of 60 years; son, Jerry Holm, Jr. (Mardi) of Mississippi; daughter, Susan Anderson (Jim); grandsons, Tyler and Tanner Holm; step granddaughters, Amy Wilkey, Stacey Myers and Ashley Holladay; five step great grandchildren; brother, George Holm (Lois); brother-in-law, Bob Bakos of Florida; two nephews and several great nieces and nephews.



The family would like to thank the staff at Arbors at Fairlawn as well as the Hospice Care Center for their wonderful care and support. The family would also like to include a special thanks to Jerry's friends and neighbors for their ongoing thoughtfulness and concern. Also, a heartful thanks to caregivers, Tammy Hively and Gail Bennett who brought Jerry much joy, love, and kindness.



Services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2017 at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Rev. David Nevergall of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home 2 hours before the service. Interment with Military Honors by the U.S. Navy will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.
