Jean Maree Thome (nee Zimmerman) passed from this earthly life on January 15, 2018, at the age of 92 years 7 months.
Jean was born in Fostoria, Ohio June 16,1925, to Nina Leona Knepper and Harris Rathburn Zimmerman, and moved to Akron with her widowed mother and three older sisters in 1930. She attended Margaret Park School, and South High School, where she met her husband of 65 years, Marvin Ray Thome. Jean was an amateur artist, and studied at the Akron Art Institute with her sister JoAnne with a number of notable local artists in the 1950s and 1960s.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Joyce Patria Nelson, June Amber Tibbetts, and JoAnne Crocker, and her husband, Marvin Ray Thome. She leaves to mourn her passing son, Richard Thome (David Sperner) of Clinton, OH; daughter, Janice Schumacher (Robert) of Copley, OH, and granddaughter, Allison M. Schumacher of Largo, FL.
Jean was a loving and kind soul that was a friend to many; she will be sadly missed.
The family wish to thank the staff of Pleasant View Health Care Center for the Kind and loving attention given to Jean while she was their resident.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. THURSDAY at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. where the service will take place at 7 p.m., the Rev. Ric Schumacher officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Friday at Rose Hill Burial Park. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
