Esther Scherzer Obituary

Esther Daphene Scherzer (nee McClintock), born April 8,1928 in Harnedsville, Pennsylvania, ascended into heaven March 6, 2018.
Preceded in death by parents, Edwin and Bertha McClintock; husband, Conrad Scherzer; sisters, Virginia Roberts, Dorothy Burnworth, and Phyllis Sweitzer; brothers, Paul McClintock, Robert McClintock; and grandson, Eli Scherzer; she is survived by sister, Lucille Janie Poydock; children, Dennis Scherzer and Terri (John) Freiman; grandchildren, Esther Scherzer (Eben Bedford), Martha (Dominic) Stryker, Hannah Scherzer (Daniel Olbrantz), and Jonathan Freiman (Linda Atwood); great grandchildren, Landon, Lily & Opal Freiman, Layla & Owen Atwood, Magnolia & Otis Stryker, and Daphene Olbrantz; and special friends, Linda Henretta, Julia Dederer and Pablo Freiman.
Esther left the farm and took the train to Akron to help sister, Virginia and husband, Bob with child care and graduated from South High School infamous class of 1945. In 1947, she married the love of her life, Conrad "Connie" Scherzer, who was a pitcher for the Chicago Cubs organization. Esther was a ballroom dance instructor for Arthur Murray Studios. In 1959, Esther and Conrad moved to Manchester where they raised their family. Esther enjoyed being a Keller Road Mom. Esther retired from The University of Akron in 1983. She volunteered at Children's hospital, was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts and an assistant girl scout leader. Esther was a life member of "The Little Red Church" EUB in Harnedsville, Pennsylvania. She loved gardening and baking pancakes and cookies for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A celebration of her life open house will be held Sunday, April 8, 2018 from l-5 p.m. at the home of Terri & John Freiman where she resided the past 26 years on what would have been her 90th birthday. Memorials may be made in Esther's honor to The American Heart Association or The Little Red Church.
