Dale Tener Obituary

Dale Tener, 86, passed away April 11, 2017.
Dale was born in Westerville, Ohio on September 20, 1930. He grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Although he rarely spoke of his military service, he was a decorated soldier, who served with the 7th Infantry on the front lines of Korea. After returning home, he earned a Master's degree from Kent State University and taught at Cuyahoga Falls High School for many years.
Dale was a man of many talents. He was an accomplished artist. Dale and his wife, Carol, were asked to make a bronze casting celebrating John Glenn's space flight. Today, that casting adorns a state building in Columbus, Ohio. Dale was perhaps best known for building houses. With his brother, Robert, he designed and built three houses for his family and relatives. They built them, laying brick, and with hammer and nail, during the summer vacations from teaching school. Dale loved hiking and the out-of-doors. He loved trees, plants and nature.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Lawrence Tener; siblings, Dawn, Robert (Carolyn), and Judy. Dale is survived by Carol; his son, Dean (Robin) Tener of Bath, Ohio; and his daughter, Susan (Neil) Belair of Columbus, Ohio, and their two daughters, Genevieve and Roseline.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Dale's life will be arranged at a later date for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dale's memory can be made to the Nature Conservancy.
